After Pinot Bianco 2014, Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Kalterersee 2016 and Merlot 2018, Pinot Grigio 2019 is the center of attention of the kunst.stück Competition n. 5 by Cantina Kaltern, the largest social winery in South Tyrol, with 650 members and 450 hectares of vineyards, which invites established and emerging artists to create an artist label (“kunst.stück”, in fact, means work of ‘art) to interpret the variety that has had the most convincing performance in each vintage.
The theme, launched this year, to the artists was “The great moment of Cinderella”, since in this vintage Pinot Grigio has disproved the cliché that sees it a bit like the “Cinderella” of the vines. Hundreds of proposals have arrived from all over the world and five drawings will be played in the final, through an online vote open to all, the prize of 1,000 euros plus the honor of dressing the Pinot Grigio 2019, which will be released on the market next year, with a special label that will enrich Cantina Kaltern’s collection of works of art.

Past editions have seen the Pinot Bianco varieties in 2014, played by Claudio Paternoster; Cabernet Sauvignon in 2015, with the label of Margit Pittschieler; Kalterersee in 2016, represented by Stefano Mandato; Merlot from the 2018 harvest, with the dress by Anita Ladurner.
