After the boom of 2020, when the pandemic and the consequent lockdown literally made wine and alcohol purchases explode on the web, the interest in the category continues, well told by online searches. Which, as the data from Trovaprezzo.it, the leading online price comparator in Italy, after 1.2 million searches for the alcohol category, and 2.9 million searches for the wine category recorded in 2020, in 2021 it marks a further increase in web searches, both for spirits (+ 2%, with 30,000 more searches than 2020, at 1.22 million searches) and wines (+ 3%, with 90,000 more searches, for a total of 3 million searches). Since the onset of the pandemic, growth spikes in both categories have been detected in December 2021: + 104% for wines and + 86% for spirits as of December 2020.

In the period December 2021-February 2022, analyzed by the Trovaprezzo Observatory, the most active Region online was by far Lombardy, with 143.56 searches per 10,000 inhabitants in the alcoholic category and 414.15 searches per 10,000 inhabitants in the wine category.ahead of Lazio (361.12 searches per 10,000 inhabitants in the wine category), Liguria (235.31 searches per 10,000 inhabitants), Emilia-Romagna (160.04 searches per 10,000 inhabitants), Campania (158.75 searches per 10,000 inhabitants) and Umbria (158.46 searches per 10,000 inhabitants). In this same period, men accounted for 61% of wine searches, while by age group the most relevant are those 25-34 and 35-44 years, which each represent 24% of online wine searches. The 45-54 range represents 18% of wine searches on the web, the 18-24 13%, the 55-64 12% and the over 65s 9% of online wine searches.
