All the technology applied to the wine and beverage supply chain returns to Simei, the international exhibition of machinery for enology and bottling of Unione Italiana Vini (Uiv) – led by WineNews rumors and in a few days, after Ernesto Abbona, at the top of the historic Cantina di Langa, Marchesi di Barolo, expiring in office, Lamberto Frescobaldi should arrive, at the top of one of the most important and long-lived wine companies in Tuscany and Italy – scheduled at Fiera Milano (Rho) from 15 to 18 November 2022.
After the forced stop in 2021, the Simei n. 29 (truly world event for winemaking and bottling equipment and machinery, every two years), transversal by product categories represented and leaders in the sector, confirms the calendar, with four days for Italian and foreign professional operators in the name of innovation technology and green processes in oenology, liquid food, oil, beer and spirits. Fair that is announced at a critical moment for wine logistics, between energy costs, scarcity of raw materials and so on, in a sector, that of technology applied to the wine supply chain, which sees Italy as the absolute leader, with a total business, in the pre-covid era, close to 3 billion euros per year, 70% of which from exports, for an active trade balance of 1.8 billion euros.

Sustainability, a fundamental value in the wine supply chain and beyond, is the theme of Simei 2022, spokesperson for the ecological, social and economic development of a technical and technological sector of Made in Italy present in over 70% of wineries around the world. . Among the events specifically dedicated to green business models, there are also two events organized by Sustainable Wine Roundtable (Swr), the global and independent association that brings together all the players in the wine sector who want to define and disseminate sustainable practices and standards. This is also a central theme for the Innovation Challenge, a competition that rewards technological innovations in the sector and which from this year will add the “Green Innovation Award” to the “Technology Innovation Award Simei 2022” and the “New Technology Simei 2022” Simei 2022 “. The technologies competing for the title of “Green Innovation Award 2022” must present an improvement in the area of ​​climate mitigation, the circular economy or water and energy consumption, in accordance with the EU regulation 2020/852 of 18 June 2020.
Among the trade organizations involved in Simei 2022, from 15 to 18 November, Assoenologi and the Women of Wine in the World will respectively be the protagonists of a lecture on “Innovation in the prevention of light defects in white and rosé wines” and of the world forum of female wine on “We cultivate the future and peace”. And, in the hall dedicated to wine and beverage technology, there is also space for Iga. Beer Challenge, an international competition reserved for Italian Grape Ale, which will be held for the first time in Simei, to promote and enhance the Italian beer sector. The events also include a conference promoted in collaboration with Assobibe, AssoBirra and Mineracqua which will compare the four sectors represented (drinks, beer, water and wine). There are 15 product categories at Fiera Milano, including technologies for the vineyard in Enovitis Business; beer enters Simei 2022 with important and dedicated events and contents.
