Among the vineyards of the Langhe where wine and art, pioneeringly, have always met, a new “work of art in a bottle” is born, for collectors who love this genre: is the 2021 limited edition of Arte Langhe Rosso Doc 2019 by Domenico Clerico, the maximum expression of this type of wine, produced in only 300 examples in the 3-liter bottle and with designer labels signed by the winners of the first edition of the “Premio Domenico Clerico ”, established by the brand in collaboration with the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin to promote and support young talents. They are Eleonora Ballario, Piedmontese born in 1999, and Francisca Jitaru, Romanian born in 1995, authors of 10 different labels, 5 for each, which tell the personality of this wine with an original and expressive trait. An award, which is part of the “Limited Edition Art” project promoted by the historic Langhe winery, one of the most renowned producers of Barolo, to combine their art of making wine, the art of the cellar, with art in its sense more canonical, through painting and mixed techniques to create unique labels.
The result is 10 small illustrated works from which it will be possible to choose to customize the bottle of Arte Langhe Rosso Doc 2019 (with, in addition to the label, the color of the sealing wax or the dedication to be inserted on the back of the label), by reservation only, while the most selected work of each artist will be exhibited in the cellar spaces.
“Domenico Clerico was a visionary – says his wife Giuliana Clerico – a free spirit who loved to try his hand at ever new adventures. In his own way he was a wine artist. And it is precisely to remember this trait of his personality that the Award was born, the aim of which is to stimulate the creativity of young people and concretely support them, thanks to the scholarship we have awarded, in their professional career “. And “Art – adds Oscar Arrivabene, oenologist and cellar manager – it is a wine that has its own stylistic code, different in each vintage and not replicable, just as the work of the artists is not replicable. A wine that well represents Domenico Clerico, an eclectic man, innovator and visionary, in the vineyard, in the cellar and above all in life “.
A prize that for the students of the Albertina Academy “represents an opportunity for training and growth outside the classrooms of the school. The creativity of the new generations, who at the Academy not only study painting, sculpture or engraving, but also photography, digital art, artistic planning for business, design and decoration, new technologies, can bring a new vision to a product of great quality. like the wine from the Domenico Clerico winery “, said the president Paola Gribaudo.
