The pandemic from which Italy and a large part of the world have made digital breakthroughs on the scene of wine events. A road that, at least for a while, some will continue to beat with conviction to stay in touch with the world, as the Trentodoc Institute will do, which protects the “mountain bubbles” and the “Wine Region of The Year”, according to the US magazine “Wine Enthusiast”, which on 10 May stages the “Trentodoc Day”, an event entirely online on Zoom, Facebook, Instagram and Clubhouse. It will be attended by experts, journalists and opinion leaders, as well as the Italian Sommelier Association (Ais) and the Masters of Wine Institute: for everyone, the task of telling Trentodoc and Trentino, a territory particularly suited to the production of the classic method. 15 appointments (also in English) scheduled, with the direct participation of 27 sparkling wine producers.
“The day, designed for enthusiasts and operators, represents an opportunity to get to know Trentodoc from the comfort of home – explains the Trentodoc Institute, chaired by Enrico Zanoni – exploring style, quality and territorial identity, also with the help of the Trentodoc App. Among the main themes of the first edition, sustainability, food and wine tourism, refinements, the role of women in Trentino sparkling wine, the link between the mountains and the classic method and the new innovation challenges for the sector “.
The opening “Trentodoc Day” will be at 10 am, when the sparkling wine producers will publish – simultaneously – a video of the territory on their Facebook or Instagram channels and will tell about one of their labels in a post.
“Trentodoc Day” will continue with interviews, round tables and insights: the altitudes of the Trentino area and the mountains will be the subject of the direct conduct by Cantina Social (11.30 am, Instagram @cantinasocial), while the enotourist itineraries will be at the center of the guided live by the wine influencer Emanuele Trono @Enoblogger – entitled “The Trentino – Wine Region of the Year 2020 Wine Enthusiast – narrated through the Trentodoc App” (1.30 pm, Instagram @Enoblogger). Three appointments “Trentodoc, orient yourself in the choice” for those who want to learn more about the different types. Leading them the Best Sommeliers of the Italian Sommelier Association (Ais): Simone Loguercio, Best Sommelier 2018, will talk about the zero dosage (2.30 pm, Instagram @simoneloguercio), Valentino Tesi, Best Sommelier 2019, the rosé (3 pm, Instagram @vale_tesi) and Roberto Anesi, Best Sommelier 2017, the reserve and refinements (3:30 pm, Instagram @robertoanesi). At 5 pm (Facebook @trentodoc), Luciano Ferraro, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, will deepen the theme of the female role in Trentino sparkling wine in the appointment “Woman is in the Trentodoc DNA”, while Marco Sabellico, journalist and curator of the Gambero Rosso “Vini d’Italia” guide, he will talk about “Sustainability, innovation, tradition” (6 pm, Instagram @gamberorosso).
“Trentodoc Day” will be an opportunity to meet with the Italian Sommelier Association (Ais), a reference point for sommeliers and restaurants, and the Masters of Wine Institute, one of the most prestigious academic organizations in the world engaged in the promotion of wine culture . Reserved for Ais Sommeliers is the Trentodoc event: get to know them and match them with the Italian champion Sommeliers that will involve Maurizio Filippi, Roberto Anesi, Simone Loguercio and Valentino Tesi, Best Sommeliers of Italy of the Italian Sommelier Association 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 for the first time together (6 pm); while Gabriele Gorelli, the first Italian to be awarded the title of Master of Wine, will conduct the seminar “The role of biodiversity, climate and winemaking in Trentodoc” (7 pm, reserved for Masters or Wine and students), an event organized by Masters of Wine Institute. In the evening, at 8.30 pm #TrentodocTime will be held, an in-depth study open to all, bookable from the Trentodoc App and conducted by two of the Best Sommeliers of the Italian Sommelier Association. “From the disciplinary to the pairing with food: what is the fil rouge? We talk about it with the young people of Trentodoc ”he will tell how the versatility of mountain bubbles with respect to food depends on a climate and a territory with very particular conditions (8:30 pm on Zoom, registration via App).
The “Trentodoc Day” program also includes a couple of meetings in English: the first, entitled “Bring Home the Mountains of Trentino”, is reserved for the US and Swiss media; while “Armchair Travel to Trentino for #TrentodocDay” is open to the public via a live Instagram and will be hosted – from Chicago – by Jon McDaniel, Sommelier of the Year 2018 for Food + Wine Magazine (8.30 pm, Instagram channel @ mcvino82) . To close the day, the live broadcast on Clubhouse “Waiting for Wine Night, Speciale Trentodoc” curated by Tinto, presenter of Decanter on Rai Radio 2 and face of La7, who chatting with the sparkling wine houses will talk about bubbles, unusual refinements and production districts ( 9.30 pm, on Clubhouse, Club Trentodoc).
