40 cellars (from Bertani to Ca ‘Rugate, from Gerardo Cesari to Corte Figaretto, from Costa Arènte to Domíni Veneti, from La Collina dei Ciliegi to Le Guaite di Noemi, from Massimago to Monte Zovo – Cottini family, from Montresor to Easter Vineyards and cellars, from Rocca Sveva to Roccolo Grassi, from Santa Sofia to Santi, from Sartori di Verona to Secondo Marco, from Terre di Leone to Valentina Cubi, from Vigneti di Ettore to Zeni 1870) ready to uncork on the notes of the triumphal march of the Aida: it is the snapshot of “Amarone Opera Prima”, the extraordinary event of the Consorzio Vini Valpolicella in Verona from 17 to 20 June (on 18 June, by invitation, in the Arena to attend Verdi’s Aida, the symbolic opera of the Roman amphitheater under the stars, from its first edition in 1913): a special occasion that challenges the taboo of the summer calendar to present the 2017 vintage, also staging the partnership between the two symbols of the city of Verona in the world, the Arena and Amarone.
One of the top moments will be “Amarone 4wd, off the beaten track: different styles of Amarone combined with haute cuisine dishes from various countries of the world”, an initiative conceived with “La Peca”, a two-star Michelin restaurant in Lonigo (Vicenza), and the narration of the food critic and wine expert, Davide Scapin. Then the session “The boom generation: the last decades of Amarone from its escalation to global success”conducted by JC Viens, Italian Wine Ambassador and Wset Educator.
“Amarone Opera Prima” on 19 June then moves to Palazzo della Gran Guardia (Piazza Bra) for the tasting of Amarone della Valpolicella 2017, with wine lovers and operators
(from the USA to the United Arab Emirates, from South Korea to Canada, from Israel to Singapore, to the main European markets). Then space for talk shows on the state of health of the denomination and focus on “Amarone and the myths of Venetian hospitality, between history and legend”.
