WOW, outstanding.... We have been here twice and will be returning
The food, service and ambiance make for a very satisfying evening. Excellent customer service, both the manager and owner stopped by to make sure everything was okay

The ambiance is kind of old world meet new. Atmosphere is comfortably inviting with a splash of bling, food & wine were excellent. It'll now be my "go to" place for happy hr, quaint dinners & wine. Only discredit to the restaurant is a commentary repeated in many reviews. The staff needs to smile & be much more enthusiastic with customers & their jobs. They're in hospitality after all. Very few look or acted liked customers were a bother. A pleasant greeting & smiles go a looong way.

A friend and I stopped in for happy hour and stayed almost four hours! From the wine to the goat cheese app served with bruschetta to the broccoli pesto pasta, I left there in a delicious food coma! Oh, I can't leave out their wonderful house made hummus served with breadsticks, which came to the table before we ordered. Really, the best hummus I've ever had!

The owner stopped at our table to make sure everything was to our liking, which was really nice.
They also have a very talented singer there on Thursday nights so bring your dancing shoes! I'll be back!

This amazing restaurant with exceptionally talented wait staff is a wonderful addition to North Macomb County restaurants. The versatility of the menu from the very start with their Whipped goat cheese and charcuterie tray , the house salad which was amazing and all the dishes that we ordered that night were exceptionally great . I highly recommend this restaurant for an eating experience or just stop by for happy hour and a nice glass of wine
Thank you again for making our Christmas party a success

Watching and waiting for the opening, I now truly feel bad that I did not get here until this past Thursday . We came for Happy hour 4pm - 6:30 Mon-Fri

We did not even feel like we were in a restaurant, it felt like an evening in Lisa R's dining room, as we entered not knowing whether to dine on the main floor or upstairs, Lisa intervened and suggested the upstairs for our 1st visit.

Jola was the floor manager & our server and knew the menu very well, gave us plenty of time to choose wisely and brought over some fantastic bread sticks and a Italian dip which she basically referred to as Italian hummus, if I would not have ate anything else we could have stopped right there on that offering alone & gave them 5 stars.

But my wife was starved & ordered a very unique dish
BONE-IN CHICKEN PIRI-PIRI, comfort food at its finest
Airline chicken breast, char-grilled, chef's blend dried peppers, lemon, garlic, olive oil, served with fennel whipped Michigan potatoes, seasonal vegetables 16.95

I do not have enough adjectives to describe how one of a kind this dish was, the Olympic chef in the back is award winning for a reason.

I ordered
SPAGHETTI -n- BALLS, spaghetti, San Marzano tomatoes, white wine, pork, beef, garlic, fresh herbs, pecorino 14.95
which included 3 large meatballs , the pasta & sauce was very very good
however the meatballs stole the show, I know I tasted at least 3 different meats & several seasonings

Between happy hour & a local coupon , Jola worked with us to get a free dessert
We chose the vanilla bean ice cream, with your choice of Sanders hot fudge or the chefs signature sea salt caramel, we could not decide, Jola brought us both!

Dinner for 2 was less than $35, which imho was a bargain, because this is not a chain , it is like no other Italian restaurant in Shelby and there are plenty.

As we were finishing up Lisa stopped by for our impressions, which our smiles revealed were very good, beyond the food, the place is set up to make you feel like your on vacation.

I've been to La Cucina a few times in the past few months and I can say that it's one of the only reasons I go north of hall road. I typically go to downtown Detroit for nice dinners, but since being introduced to La Cucina, it's become one of my absolute favorites. Sure, it's a little bit out of the way if you live in Clinton township or anywhere south of there, but it's definitely worth it.

I tend to avoid Italian restaurants because they get redundant. Okay, great, spaghetti, lasagne, veal, blah blah blah. Not the case with La Cucina; sure, you have the classic Italian dishes, but where the restaurant really shines is with the more exotic dishes like the charred squid or the sea scallops (two of my absolute favorites). But the one thing that I literally dream about is the fresh caprese salad...oh my god. I could eat it every meal of every day. If you go and you don't order the caprese salad before your dinner, you are out of your mind!

Oh, and as a fan of fine booze, the selection is top notch, especially the wines. At most fancy restaurants, I feel like an idiot when it comes to wine, so I won't order it out of some internal fear of looking culture-less. The wine list is stacked with a full range of great options for all price ranges, and the staff is more than helpful when I struggle to pronounce the name of a wine.

Anyway, my overall point is this: As someone who has traveled and eaten in most of the United States and many other countries, this is one of my all time favorite restaurants.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere is such that it can fit for a casual night out or a formal occasion. It's just cool. On the Thursday we were here, there was live entertainment. The service was exemplary, and the owner was present and active.

The food courses were distinctively Sicilian. The broccoli pesto pasta tastes exactly like the dish my wife's Mother used to make, and the flank steak was outstanding, not just because of the meat, but because of all the other things that were going on with it (blue cheese, mushrooms, red onion and garlic). The only thing I didn't like was that the bread only con stilted of bread sticks. A place this good owes it to themselves to have a good bread (the white bean dip is great though).

The drink menu is very good, and the bartender went out of her way to make sure our drinks were exactly what we wanted.

My wife and I eat out at least 1 night a week, and we believe we have found our new favorite spot. I'm usually pretty critical of places, but left here very happy we came. We'll be bringing in her colleagues and clients here when they come in from out of town.
